Durability and Doorslammers

…noted venerable Tennessee racer Roger Henson has decided to..finally..revamp his Widowmaker ‘vette.  The blown machine is pretty nondescript in some ways-a fairly conservative body with huge snout through the hood…pseudomonster graphics (stoopid, but at least in keeping with the not-the-m0st-original theme..) and overall attitude which should keep the Music City and outlying track fans engaged…a solid entry, overall.

Consider…this winter overhaul is being press-rushed to us with the clear message of restoration.  Fourteen year old race cars aren’t supposed to be running anything hotter than super gas, aren’t they?  Henson is replacing the “vintage full-floater” rear end and updating the motor combo.  Not much else, apparently.  This is one of the Gerbil’s Free Bread and Circuses circuit riders-even driving a blown alky-only machine at those shows is risking looking left behind.  Doing something which can practically be run weekly in Q8 and handed off to the next generation may be unheard of today..but it peeks my interest as to how many other quick heads up cars are out playing for a decade or more in the deep south…

No record found on the Bill Pratt lists of performances.  Perhaps splendid independence and racing for its’ own sake is more important to Henson…
